I like the part where people set off fireworks in the middle of the night and prevent others from sleeping.

1-4am: "YEAH, 'MERICA! WOOO!"

I know how you feel. We had that all this past weekend for our little national holiday.

Funny story...

At a parade today, and I see a limo coming, with a bunch of teens in black suits and sunglasses walking around it. Sure enough, out stepped a guy wearing an Obama mask. I'm confused at this point, as I'm not understanding why there would be this impersonation here in Utah. Even more, people were clapping!" Then I read the sign on the limo:

"(Insert city name) welcomes Barack Obama on his Farewell Tour" There was also a funny sign on the back that said something like "Assault Weapon Guns Deal: Contact AG Eric Holder for more information"

On the front licence plate, it said "I love Golf"

I find that all holidays rub me the wrong way, and this one very terribly so.  I was all set to be spared remembering it entirely when a French friend had to SMS me about it.

Sorry guys, I know you love it but my emotion is the converse.

We had it two weekends ago in Quebec.

Enjoy it America.

Why was this posted on the 3rd of July though? Tongue

He did post it on the Fourth of July, just after midnight.  It just so happens that Dave Leip apparently didn't update the time to account for daylight savings.  For instance, though it might actually be 4:30 pm (EST) out in the real world, it is still 3:30 pm here.

Ah yes, Saint-Jean. I was supposed to take the family up to the Aylmer marina for that, but the Mrs. wasn't feeling well, so we stayed home. I have some great Saint-Jean memories of course, Quebeckers know how to party.

Please use the correct capitalization. It's "INDEPENDENCE dAY".

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
