Snowguy, what fuel do you use to heat your home? I don't think my natural gas furnace could keep up with your temps. I certainly don't want to think about the heating costs up there.

So far this winter, there has been no reason to have one, let alone use one.

We're supposed to have wind chills down to -50F tonight.  That'll kill ya real quick like if you're not prepared.

Oooh yeah. Now those are temperatures that I have never encountered.

I didn't have a shovel in my car either when I lived in Milwaukee nor in Minneapolis.  I just had an ice scraper.  My entire childhood growing up in Milwaukee, my family didn't have a shovel in the car.  What do you need it for?  Do you really find yourself getting into situations where your car is stuck in snow, and you can't just dig it out using your hands?

No. I don't have any corpses in my trunk to bury at the moment.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a situation where a shovel would be necessary.

I can't speak for Snowguy, but I would use wood in MN (like we do here).

Using oil or gas for heating would be ridiculous.
