My back still hurts from the shoveling. Does that answer your question? Wink

It was mild, cloudy and windy, with some light rain in the evening, about 20C around noon, dropping to mid-teens by late afternoon... ie, PERFECT for me.

I've had one WChristmas, in 2005 in Milwaukee ... last year in Paris was a bust, I'm hoping for Argentiere in Chamonix for nex year, not that there'll be snow on the ground, because there will be, but for fresh snowfall.

It snowed for about 2 hours here yesterday. But it didn't lay.

A festive day so far.  We arose about 8, had steak and eggs, marinated the duck for roasting, and put the pork butt in the slow cooker.  (Yes, Xmas is a very high-cholesterol event in angusland.)  After opening the presents, we opted to run outside and play in the snow before it melted.  There was definitely over an inch, but it's to be sunny and 40ish today.

The snow is good here.  Clumpy.  Wet.   There's only a little snow, but pick it up and press it into a sphere, drop the sphere on the ground, start rolling it, and five minutes later you have a three-foot diameter ball for the bottom part of the snowman.  In Iowa, we had to pack and pound for hours.  The snow was up to my waist in places, but it was so dry that it just didn't lend itself to ball-making.  Also, the sledding is fantastic.  Again, there's very little snow here, but when there is snow, I only have to take the sleigh and walk about a half a block in any direction to find a hill steep enough.  (Well, technically it's a toboggan.)  In Iowa, there was plenty of snow, but we had to walk about a mile and a half to find a hill appropriate for speed.  Best of all, there's no shovelling necessary.  Wait a day or two and it's gone.  Very different than in Iowa, where I had to spend hours every week with a shovel.  Also, snowman-making here is a breeze. Life is good.

Our snowman is about five feet tall, with a large green centipede for a mouth (the legs on the centipede give it a grizzled, smirking effect), large almond eyes, and a majestic Roman nose afforded by a medium-sized stone.  His arms are y-shaped twigs, the kind that are perfect for making sling shots.  He's about two hours old now and starting to lean back a little, like he's tired.  Grass is showing in patches everywhere.  His centipede mouth is dangling precariously, and I think it shall fall soon.  The large Roman nose will probably fall from its socket before the duck is ready.

I do like playing in the snow when it's calm and sunny and in the mid-30s much more than playing in the snow when it's about 15 degrees with a constant west wind whipping from across the Great Plains.

May your days be merry and bright, and may all your Christmasses be white.

It was like the Christmases I used to know:  just too freaking cold.  It was -15F this morning with wind chills below -30F.  The snow is crunchy and squeaky under your feet.  But the sky was a beautiful deep blue, as is so often the case when it's cold.

We have about 3" of snow lying on the ground.  Just enough to make everything sufficiently white and pretty...but that's about it.  And the forecast doesn't look great for snow, either... with seasonably cold temperatures and little of any kinda weather affecting us as the storm track stays south.

Got about another inch today.  It was weird because the Christmas snow had completely melted by last night.  Today, around 11AM it started snowing.  By around 1:30 we had enough to play in, so we went out and took his beach tools and with the bucket fashioned a nice hat for the snowman which, though leaning, is still standing.

We then hauled the big black toboggan to a nearby hill, a big one a couple of blocks away, and slid down a few times.  By around 2:30 the snow turned to sleet.  It started pelting us hard so we ran back home.  I'm hoping it turns to rain soon and washes all this away by tomorrow.

We had one, barely.  Although it wasn't enough to get to the 1" rule.  Today we're getting snow though.

After I have spent the last month listening off and on to White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Jingle Bells, and the like I have come to the conclusion that they need to be stricken from the list of Christmas songs, at least down here in the South.  Christmas has absolutely nothing to do with snow in my experience.

It's really coming down here now. At least 10 centimetres in Toronto. Probably the biggest single-storm snowfall we've had in the last year and a half. That speaks more to how pitiful last winter was than how great tonight's snow is. Tongue

We got four inches here, they're predicting 10 or so tomorrow.
