Is that guy even familiar with the concept of free speech?

http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/363970/3/Mo-House-bill-makes-proposing-gun-control-illegal

Lawmakers proposing gun control legislation could end up in prison under a bill introduced by a Missouri House Republican.

Rep. Mike Leara, of St. Louis County, said Tuesday that he has no illusions that his bill actually will pass and become law. But Leara said in a written statement that he introduced it as a matter of principle in defense of gun rights.

The legislation filed Monday would make members of the Legislature guilty of a felony if they introduce legislation restricting gun rights. If convicted, lawmakers could serve prison terms of up to four years.

Well, moderate. He could be calling for executions, after all.

The title of the thread is misleading. The proposed legislation wouldn't make it illegal to advocate for stricter gun control, it would make it illegal to introduce legislation to that effect. Not that that makes it much better, or that I support either of those positions, of course.

St. Louis County is suburban St. Louis.  St. Louis City is the county of the city itself.

Yeah, St. Louis County is actually included in Missouri's 2nd Congressional District, the one that Todd Akin represented.
