Apparently the Indian Muslim religious authorities said women could also divorce husbands by talaq al-bid'ah, although this is not the case in many other Muslim countries.

The real problem is combining religious and secular divorce (and marriage) as a general matter.

This might generate a swing toward BJP in the next cycle of elections.  The BJP has been pushing for uniform civil code for decades and have been pushing for the fact that one consequence of uniform civil code would be things like "Triple Talaq" would be banned which should increase the rights of Muslim women.  Now the high court struck down "Triple Talaq" the BJP could rightly claim credit and could very well get some Muslim women votes in the upcoming round of elections.
