The entire thing is a good read no matter which side of the issue you fall.  Title IX needs a complete overhaul.  I think my favorite part is the one student that is suing her for defamation for calling her a “serial Title IX filer.”.  Yeah, she has only filed (at least) 6 of them.  Roll Eyes

Kipnis should not have written an article that targets an individual with inaccuracies. A professor like her can make a point without "calling out" specific students. I believe the article, which was read by hundreds of thousands, had to be revised for some of its inflammatory statements targeting individuals. That's called bullying, or siccing a mob on someone, and can be very damaging.

The person in question wasn't named and is shady as all get out, using sh**ttly legal rules to harass somebody she disagree with politically in an attempt to silence her.  That's called bullying and can be very damaging.

Kipnis isn't being silenced. She's still speaking to the press, which is more than the identified target of her article is doing. If you want a real example of a lawsuit being used to sh**t down speech, look at what Peter Thiel did to Gawker. And the facts aren't even in dispute there. What Kipnis did was sh**tty and she deserves no sympathy.

Title IX aside, it is wholly inappropriate for a professor's publications to target and demean a specific student at their university, and I would certainly hope a university's code of conduct prohibits such things.
