Yeah, honestly I really think he was a good guy who tried doing the right thing, now that being said I can't say the same about certain members of his administration.

You can't seperate him from his politics. Someone who misled the country into such a destructive and pointless war is not a "Nice guy FF Smiley" even if he's personally friendly or whatever. Lots of Mafia bosses were known for being polite and friendly as well.

I think he was a genuinely good guy who was a bit misguided and made a lot of terrible mistakes. I'm sure a lot probably also had to do with who he surrounded himself with.
