Most of my building up of Rauner is in response to this forum's mindless hatred of him, but I will agree with this.  I'm not saying I would be able to avoid acting like Bruce did with the delusional Democrats in the state legislature, but he should have.  Baker and Hogan governed like they were in charge of deep blue states, because they are.  Rauner came in with the attitude of taking on the legislature because IL couldn't afford any more steps down the road this legislature wants to take it even further down ... IMO a noble and right attitude to have, but it was always going to haunt him in 2018.  Illinois is too Democratic to govern like Bruce wanted to, even if it's arguably what the state needs.

Probably better than the people he fought in the legislature, to be perfectly honest, although I don't really know much about his personal history and ethics that much so I could be wrong and they're all spun from equally tainted cloth. His inevitable defeat is entirely expected though, and I can't really say that I'll be sorry to see him go, although the person that will be replacing him is absolutely awful.
