Opinion of Waukegan, IL

[I spent the winter writing songs about getting better]

God this city is depressing in a weird way. Run down but not in a "cool" way.

(It's also where I'm staying now since it has cheap hotels and easy train access. I'd prefer downtown Chicago but those hotel prices...Damn!)

A working class town that has been left behind. A good representation of many small to mid-sized Midwestern towns.

I am hopeful that there will be a revitalization. It has a great location on the lake and has a lot of history.

Also, "run down but not in a cool way" is a pretty ridiculous and tone deaf thing to say.

Given its location and history, it's primed to have a boom, given the right administration and policy moves.

As is, it's meh, but I wouldn't go as far as to toss it into the HP category.
