Safe Republican in terms of winning chances, Likely in terms of winning margin.

Tough to answer when no democratic opponents have been announced as of yet.

Safe R. Even if Abbott's standing does weaken from attacks on his handling of the blizzard and the crisis from it, the Lieutenant Governor position is removed enough to not really be on anyone's minds. Apathy, everybody! Republicans' best asset!

Patrick won by 4.8 percentage points in the same election that Abbott won by 13.3.

Paxton won by 3.6 and 2.6 that same year.

That was in a democratic midterm. No idea what to expect in 2022.

The state is definitely trending left relative to the nation.

I would say Likely R but it depends of how seriously democrats will contest this race.
