Allen.

He has charisma, he talks football (great way to appeal to Midwesterners), he's got a platform geared around insuring American independence from foreign nations (energy wise, education-wise, etc.), and he comes off as a nice guy.

My first choice would be Condi, but Allen for President and Rice for Veep would be stellar.

Allen.  The Religious Right and their beloved social issues are the only thing sustaining the Republican Party; without them, they've lost several of their votes and all elections.

I think Allen would simply because has the experience, connections, charisma, and other junk that Romney lacks. However, both are evidence of the paucity of candidates on our side in 2008.

Allen.

Sad to say, but many of the GOP faithful will likely stay home or stray to third parties rather than vote for a Mormon (who would, in the worldview of some fundementalists, not be considered a 'Christian").  There could be some crossover from the moderates and dems for Romney - far more crossover than there would be for Allen, but it probably wouldn't comensate for the loss of so much of the religious right.

Romney. More charismatic, "better" record, just as much of a Bush loyalist, I think.

Allen. Romney has gun problems and flipped on abortion.

Romney can't hold on to the south.

I am going to say both Allen and Romney would be the best candidates for the GOP in 2008 with a ticket of George Allen for President and Mitt Romney for Vice President.

A southern Senator and former Governor, George Allen and a northeastern Governor, Mitt Romney.

Allen brings solid conservative credentials, executive experience, legislative experience, foreign policy knowledge.

Romney brings executive experience, management skills, he looks great on TV, is one of the most effective speakers and debaters in public life today, and has conservative, moderate, independent, and cross party appeal.

I believe a ticket of Allen/Romney would be a winning combination.

Who would have thought a 100+ years after the Civil War, you had to be southern to be president...

Good question...

Gotta' go with Romney.

1.)  He puts more states in play than Allen.
2.)  He has very little connection with the Bush administration.
3.)  He's much better on the stump than Allen.
4.)  He has some crossover appeal...  I actually like the guy.
5.)  He's a fresh face, whereas Allen seems like Bush 2.0.  You know, the Im a rough riding, down to earth, cowboy type.  I doubt America will go for another character like that in 2008.

Heh heh, when they said the South would rise again, they weren't foolin...

I would say Allen.  I do like Romney and I have to confess I would like to vote for him, but I think there would be some question over his positions on guns and abortion.

Allen.  He matches up better with the traditional GOP core values.
