Bejkuy and Sam Spade try hard to sound rational, but I see through their "arguement", the key was "Bryce gets excited in the shower" thats what it all comes down to, straight people think that gays will be so infatuated by their manliness that we'll just start having random erections every 5 seconds. Its as sick a stereotype/lie as the one that we recruit people. The army is work, do normal people have rampant sex at work? Of course not.

Really? I think most straight guys would tend to have erections if they were standing in showers very close to naked women.

Evidently not, considering that there are clearly already gay soldiers.

I think that most people are capable of distinguishing sexual closeness with uncomfortable physical closeness.

What about very close to ugly naked women? Seriously- gay men don't find every other man attractive and even if they do it doesn't cause spontaneous erections. I used to shower with other guys all the time when I played rugby. Some of them were very attractive I am not ashamed to admit but I was more interested in scrubbing the mud off my body than anything else I can tell you!

While I'm very flattered to read people who think that gay men are constantly sexually aroused and on the 'hunt' 24/7 it's simply not true. Gay men would probably be more successful in their sex life if the misinformed stereotypes were actually true  Smiley
If you say so...I guess guys aren't attractive enough. Wink

I am not a big fan of the don't ask don't tell policy. I do however wonder what ones sexual orientation has to do with being able to competently complete one's work assignments.  If you are willing to undertake the military lifestyle, I say go for it gay or not.  Besides, I'm sure most will agree, your work is not a personal dating pool.  And not EVERY person in the military is a hot piece of _________.  (Regardless of what they are telling themselves...........)

I would have to say option 1.  I dont see how being gay effects your ability to fight.

I just have to say absolutely not on this one--I am a hard core conservative, "anti-gay" person, so Option 4.

What all of you people that oppose any gays in the military are assuming is that they just rape guys over and over again at random and even if they do maybe they will show the guys how it feels to be a woman in the army (im not saying all women get raped). As long as they can follow orders and lead why does anyone care if they are openly gay?

Sexuality shouldn't be an issue in the military, which is why I believe gays should be allowed to serve in the military with no question of their orientation. However, If you are gay and in the military, just keep it to yourself. The military is no place to flaunt your orientation and it's no place for any kind of social pride outside of American pride.

I voted openly, but I am somewhat of a pacifist, so it is sort of a problem for me, therefore.

Somehow I doubt that's a problem.

As long as they can do their job who gives a toss who they sleep with?

I just have to say absolutely not on this one--I am a hard core conservative, "anti-gay" person, so Option 4.

You know... you can have opinions which don't follow what your ideology says... or your dad?

You know... I'm one of those evil blood sucking liberals you've been taught to fear... but I don't oppose nuclear power ... and I think taxes should be as low as possible on low and middle incomes.

Inks unfortunately by the sounds of things treats gay people as just a group and an ideology that is in opposition to his own. It completely ignores the personality and worth of the individual and the opinions he or she can holds which can be contrary to perceived 'liberalism' - in other words there are low tax, pro family and anti-abortion homosexuals out there who despite sharing about 90% of their values with people like Inks is treated as some opposing force; I know I've met many!
