The U.S. added 175,000 jobs last month. While less than expected, stocks are surging due to the possibility that cooler growth may prompt rate cuts from the Federal Reserve. Unemployment is at 3.9%, which is now tied for the longest stretch of below 4% unemployment in US history, matching the period between 1967-1970.

It's interesting that, this morning, Atlas has largely ignored this news and has preferred to discuss the campus protests and a wonky Rasmussen poll instead of new economic data that actually matters much more to the average voter and the state of the race.

Never change, Atlas!

They might be right that no one cares, and this will probably be framed in the worst way possible by most media outlets.

They'll see "less than expected" and focus on that.

This is actually the type of jobs report that stocks and the Fed were seemingly looking for, too.

Americans only cared about stocks when Trump was in office.

I mean, it's technically a good thing that job growth is cooling as far as inflation goes, but the average American doesn't know that! They want everything to be positive at the same time, even if that makes no economic sense.

Sorry, but I think you're being too negative and are starting to sound like the New York Times Pitchbot. I know Biden has a tough time in the press but not EVERY piece of news is seen as bad for him.

I know. Although nuance is dead in this country, and Biden seems to need an understanding of nuance to get by.

As expected, Biden's economic policy is working. And i think the voters will see that too come November.

The problem isn’t not having jobs, it’s inflation.

The problem isn’t not having jobs, it’s inflation.

which has also trended downward significantly over the past year. Wage growth is now outpacing inflation.

Where is wage growth happening? If it is, it’s not for the average American.

Republicans are so desperate for the country to burn to the ground so they can win in a landslide that they will deliberately pretend that a good jobs report is not a good jobs report.
