Who thought it was a good idea to invite him?

And who thought it was a good idea to agree for him to speak?

Anyway, it’s funny.

Truer words have never been uttered before the LNC

Trump obviously is a stupid moron, but it's honestly quite funny that he belittles them and doesn't back down.
He sounds and looks like a petty child when he tells them to keep getting 3%.

He is kind of right on that one. Though still overestimated them quite a bit.

As I said in the other thread there needs to be more organized heckling of Trump if this is how he lilts when confronted.

Trump is much more libertarian than Biden.
In fact, Biden is 100% anti-libertarian.

Libertarians have to choose between two evils, and they will choose the lesser evil.

More like Trump is 100% anti libertarian and antithetical to freedom in every way. It's a cult for people so desperate to be told what to do they'll let a moron like Trump do it. Even the weirdos still left in the LP know this.

Wow, are real Libertarians going to stand for this?
yes, and boo loudly apparently

most of the posts on page 1 and 2 look pretty silly now (admittedly, I was a bit worried and the recent direction of the LP hasn't been ideal, but I approve of these results)

Checked out the website and the musical act was this brain damaged dude named "Five Times August" with a twitter full of whining about rainbow flags and the COVID vaccine, who was described as "being censored by big tech." I don't think you were censored, bro. I think you just suck.

Oh and dogsh**t "comedian" Dave Smith was the keynote speaker, lol.

The actual party now is run by people out of the nuthouse. I lived next to one of those true believer type people and they really are nuts.

Anyway, it’s funny.

They thought having Trump would garner attention, which actually worked. Not that it will get them any more votes. Trump was actually generous with his 3%, lol.

Admittedly defending the right to meme is a good way to reach the LP since that's all they do. Trump's not really the right vehicle for that argument since he's the guy who wants to be able to sue people for criticizing him and made a genuine effort to prosecute someone in the Congressional gallery for laughing at Mike Pence.

So the libertarian party appears to have nominated Chase Oliver. Looking at his wikipedia article, he seems to be very socially liberal, probably about as left as biden on most social issues other than gun rights. he was also the libertarian candidate in the 2022 Georgia senate election and got 2% there.

This is pretty much the norm for the LP outside of the Bob Barr aberration in 2008.

He's also openly gay which has to make him one of the first if not the first gay general election candidate ever. Googled it and all I found was Mayor Pete articles. Might have been another third party candidate at some point though.

And he supports abolishing ICE, taking in refugees and having open borders.
He's just running as a pro-gun, economically conservative, pro-civil liberties Biden.

second and third ones encompass a pretty huge array of issues. Which most people ignore in favor of the handful of culture war wedge issues and "vibes" unfortunately.

So when it was down to Rectenwald and Oliver, Oliver was up 49-44 with rest mostly for NOTA. Oliver ran against NOTA and won 61-37 over NOTA. So the vast majority of Rectenwald's supporters who were mostly Mises would've rather not ran a candidate and completely wreck the party's ballot access for the future than support Chase Oliver for President. When Rectenwald was eliminated there were people in the Convention chantihg NOTA, they were countered by chants of Chase.

I think if Rectenwald could've given a better than C-level performance running for President he could've won the nomination. His performance at the post-Trump event for Libertarian candidates to rebut to was atrocious and he left midway through.

Mike Ter Maat won VP 51-47 over Clint Russell. Russell was the Mises-supported candidate that talked with Vivek Friday night.

Time management for the Convention was horrible. Secret Service shut down the hotel 7 hours prior to Trump's speech, meaning delegates that had left pretty much could not get back to the Convention floor. That delayed everything and they finished President and Officer elections very late last night. This is a Mises own goal because they had all these policy changes they wanted to make to the platform and bylaws and while they're doing business today they're going to run out of time and I doubt all the delegates were going to stick around.

Results:

Chair: Angela McArdle (bad)
Vice Chair: Mark Rutherford (good)
Secretary: Caryn Ann Harlos (bad)
Treasurer: Bill Redpath (good)

President/Vice President: Chase Oliver/Mike Ter Maat (good)

I think Mises swept all the Libertarian National Committee 5 At-Large spots.

Not a terrible outcome for Trump. The Mises lolberts now claim they want to vote for Trump as protest of Chase Oliver. Chase Oliver also is quite strongly culturally left wing in vibes as well along with calling Gaza a genocide so he could peel off some lefties.

they are still nuts, no doubt.  As I've said before, I'm (small l) libertarian due to process of elimination and owe the party nothing.
