Well, Mc Cain, if still alive on time, is quite sure to become the GOP's nominee.

If the Dem nominee is consensual, Mc Cain will need the religious vote and it seems he 's not especially liked by it. It could be hard to get it, especially versus Obama.

In this way, isn't Huckabee for VP his only card to get an insurance concerning this important part of the voters?

Huckabee to become Mc Cain's VP, do you think it is just...possible?

There's some worry that Huckabbe could turn off moderate voters, but I don't think it entirely impossible.

You're right, it's a "double-edged sword" (translation of a French expression).

It can serve him and deserve him.

I'm moderate and it would definitely turn me off.  McCain's greatest attribute is that he's not a puppet of the far right.  I respect many of Huckabee's conservative views in private life, but not as a leader of the country.  I could not in good conscience ever vote for a candidate (or vp with a higher-than-average likelihood of ascending to president) who did not believe in evolution.

(See this video for Huckabee's take on evolution: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXajXz4DF1w)

McCain will pick someone more conservative than himself, but not quite so radically far-right as Huckabee.

I highly doubt seeing Huckabee as the VP nominee.  While it would be great for McCain during the VP debates, McCain needs a core concervative to balance out his moderate impression.  While Huckabee represents a lot of the conservatism that McCain lacks, he also comes with his own liberal stances on some of the issues.  I think the VP should also be an intellectual that can serve as "a guide" (for the lack of a better term) to McCain on some of the issues where he is weak.  This might be why some go back to Condi as being a good choice.  Not sure if he wants to maintain that kind of tie with the Bush administration though.
