On MSNBC's 'Race for the White House' today Chuck Todd was talking about McCain and the 'blue states' and he said that he will continue to stick it out in PA, but "keep an eye on Wisconsin in the next couple of days, we may see a Michigan kind of thing there" or something like that.

I'm glad I'm not a Republican. I'd be really, really depressed right now. Even when Kerry lost, I was pretty upbeat until like 7 in the evening. They're going to have to endure this for the next 3 weeks.

You should be glad. At this point, it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion. You know, that dreadful, sinking feeling?

It might be money and the RNC will step in.

There's no way Obama will win as many counties as Clinton did, even if he wins by more in the popular and electoral vote.

I was thinking more because Clinton did a lot better in rural areas.

On Morning Joe Todd repeated his assertion that McCain will soon pull out of Wisconsin and said they are doing it to divert money to Indiana and North Carolina. He also said that he felt McCain's 'ceiling' was 274...which are all the states that voted for Bush twice. He also noted that Obama's people felt Ohio was one of their weakest Bush states and they felt better about CO, VA, FL and NC

He should pull out of Wisconsin.  There's a state he'll never win, no matter how hard he tries and no matter how "close" it ends up being.  He should also pull out of (if he hasn't already) Minnesota, Iowa and Pennyslvania.  He shouldn't have ever pulled out of Michigan--that was a stupid decision, as polls showed a closer race than the states just mentioned.  But the McCain campaign has really been nothing but one big stupidly run campaign, so you never know......

Disagree.  WI is still in play, though a longshot.

Wiscpolitics.com is reporting that there are no scheduled McCain TV advertisements after this week in Wisconsin.

so apparently McCain is still in but RNC is out. According to numbers for last week (see The Fix) this would cut the total spend in half (unless McCain ups his WI spend to make up for the loss of the RNC spend)

In Indiana, the RNC is still spending money but McCain is now.

Now, it appears the RNC is bailing on Wisconsin.  But I dunno if McCain is yet...despite Todd's prediction.

The McCain has really screwed this up if they're having to battle for IN, NC, WV, VA (did I forget any...?) while also managing to allow Obama to increase his margin in the traditional battleground states, like WI.
