"Surgeon"  - I kind of think there's some interesting imagery with the children

"Military" - Barack Obama may want to cut our military 25%!

"Special" - Return to Celebrity

/sorry for the partisan pseudo-biting commentary?

Ain't gonna work this time around. Any Democrat would win this election, even a Michael Dukakis or Walter Mondale. The Republican brand has just become too toxic thanks to Bush's record.

Well you're a broken record.  Something insightful would be appreciated.

Perhaps I should have added that the ads are good, maybe even on par with Bush's best stuff in 2004, but they are just not going to work this election cycle. Even great ads like this are just not going to work this time.

Yeah that helps, cheers.  I mean, We're trying to discuss the election, and we get that you think the election is over already (I agree, actually, but not to the same extent that you do).  But it's kind of shilly to just respond to every tactical event, without analysis, "doesn't matter it's already over."

I think these ads are good.  Especially the "Surgeon" one, I'm still pondering the imagery of "would you trust Obama with your children?"  The "Military" one is obviously ridiculous, but it might be a bit persuasive in military families if they miss the logical leap.

"Special" was shown during the World Series after Barack Obama's infomercial.  I like it - but will admit that I am biased to the celebrity theme.  The "ready... yet..." is a bit bizarre of an ending, though.  Why yet?

Edit: I agree with Lunar on "Military" - though I can't really judge how well that will go over in Virginia.  It might go over well in the Norfolk TV market.  Elsewhere?  Not so much.

"Surgeon" is better than that nonsensical stormy seas ad that the RNC put out earlier in the week.  Much less abstract.

"Surgeon" wasn't too bad, though it might have played a lot better if McCain had a more seasoned running mate.

The other two seem a bit more iffy.  The 'yet' on the last one struck me as rather odd too.

Perhaps an irony is that McCain's ads remind me of Bush's ad campaign.  I wonder if he is unintentionally fueling the McCain=Bush image by following a similarly negative campaign?

Ok, I've made up my mind.  I think the RNC was attempting to create a blogosphere backlash with that Surgeon ad, they wanted media coverage of the ad as "Liberals think it's racist."

I think they were too cautious though, and it won't generate the coverage they kinda hoped for.  Which is a perfectly fine plan B, since the ad itself has lots of negative connotations associated with Obamarama.

The RNC is actually airing the ad - I saw it today during some national programming (I forget exactly what).

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that they'd underfund it.

The "Celebrity" ads got a lot of airtime and a lot of free media coverage.

These videos might explain why "Special" ended with the word ...yet:

Seems to be a building theme.
