CARL, please stop the ad hominem attacks if you are able to do so and offer rational arguments.

Joe,

McCain is a slimebag!

The one moderate republican Sarah Palin will throw a ton of support to will be John McCain.

Does that make people like Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins socialists if you consider John McCain to be moderate?
What is the point of being republican if you can't even vote right when it counts the most?  Snowe and Collins (well Collins at least) are not socialists, but they could certainly beef up the few points they are conservative on.  They can get away with opposing healthcare reform, cap & trade and spending packages in Maine - what they can't get away with is becoming more conservative on social issues and becoming wartime neocons.  That is why we are disappointed with them and that's why they get called socialists.

Carlhayden is right to an extent, but McCain's all we're going to have for awhile.  It's good that he's bitter and doesn't like Obama - helps him become more conservative out of spite.

Carl, using the word "always" almost always gets one in trouble, since well, one can find an example that may not fit your posited universal pattern. My best advice is to use a term such a "typically" rather than "always," because that way it becomes more of a matter of opinion, and less easy to factually go after. Best.

First, I find your self description interesting.

Second, with regard to your 'example,' its interesting that you do not consider describing Sen. Coburn as "extreme" to be prejorative.

It you agree that your description of Sen. Coburn was pejorative, then please cite an example of where you have NOT been snarking and pejorative in describing conservatives.

Third, while I realize that you like adopt the style of BRTD in fabricating quotes from others, please in the future note that the insertion which you attributed to me was your own self description.

I don't agree that my characterization of Coburn was pejorative, and in fact I think it was largely complimentary, but whatever. The word "always" was lifted from your own text. Finally I don't recall BRTD fabricating quotes from others (nor myself for that matter, and that is just not my style in any event), but as they say, memory is the second thing to go. Cheers Carl.

Torie,

Well, first let me start by calling you "extreme." since you seem to be impying that is not a pejorative term, but rather a compliment.

Oh, and it was your description of yourself which you attributed to me (as in "Carl said:") to which I referred.  But it was a nice try on your behalf to change the subject. (Aside: If you ever do any trial work do you 'bang on the table' when the law and facts are against your case?)

Yes, your 'recollection' is rather limited.  BRTD was disciplined by making false attributions (quotes) of others.  Ask Dave Liep.  I suggest that there are a number of supplements you might want to talk with your doctor about to help your memory.

I just quoted your own text verbatim Carl. Have a nice day. And yes, memory does fade with age, and it sucks.

Why do I have the feeling that, even if the GOP has a favorable climate in 2010, they will find a way to screw themselves by splitting off and running far-rightists, which will do nothing but allow the Democrats to win pluralities in places where they would otherwise lose? Why does it seem like my party is full of idiots? McCain is not right wing enough now? We'd rather lose this election than have him in office? This purity test the far right is imposing on candidates is getting out of hand now.

You're talking to a wall, dude. A wall that keeps Mexicans out of the United States.
