The sooner Huckabee is a candidate, the sooner he has to give up his lucrative TV career.  Huckabee could arguably get in as late as a year from now (or later?) and immediately jump to the head of the pack in Iowa polls.  What Palin does affects Huckabee's chances.  Why not wait to see if she runs and/or if she implodes?  And why not wait another 8 months to get a closer view on how Obama's chances might look in late 2012?

Conversely, like Palin, the longer they are seen as a candidate, the better things are for their media careers regardless of intentions

Suckabee isn't going anywhere. He has a five day a week talk show on, why would he give that up? It's strange though that he rarely talks politics, a bit disappointing if you ask me. He's actually a pretty damn good tv show host, he's not all bitch and moany about politics.
