Do you accept your own amendment as friendly, Senator Libertas?

I suppose I do.

Alrighty then! Senators have twenty-four hours to object.

Alright, so how about this:

Fusion Ballot Reform Act

1. Any declared candidate for any office in the Republic of Atlasia may opt to appear on the ballot line for all organized political parties offering the candidate an official endorsement.
2. Official endorsements by parties must be certified by the party giving the endorsement.
3. The SoFA must be notified of the endorsement at least 48 hours in advance of the election by the declared candidate receiving a cross-endorsement.
4. A party shall at its discretion have the right to prohibit any candidate from running on its official ballot line. This is to be accomplished by an officer or chosen representative of the party informing the SoFA of this intention at least 48 hours in advance of the election.

Did you offer this as a friendly amendment? If so, it's passed.

I think it's about time for a final vote on this bill, guys.

Yes, if there's nothing else, I guess that would be a good idea.

Oh, silly me, I didn't notice this, Libertas! I thought when you said "Yes, if there's nothing else, I guess that would be a good idea," I thought you were talking about how you had already accepted the friendly amendment and now were agreeing that a final vote should take place. I just now realized you saying "I guess that would be a good idea" is only referring to you offering/accepting your own amendment as friendly at that moment, and not saying anything about starting the vote, because you had not explicitely accepted your amendment as friendly earlier (and that is required under Atlasian law)!

Goodness me, because I was so negligent, it looks like this vote was started a full seven hours before your amendment was considered added to the bill. I completely missed that!

Oh, darn, I guess I have to stop the vote now.

Also, because the OSPR only says that missed amendments can stop a vote, and doesn't specify that I have to stop the vote only to deal with these missed matters, it looks like regular debate recommences now and Senators can, say, offer new amendments if they wanted to.

Wink

I believe this has now been amended. I don't suppose anyone would object to a vote soon?

Alright, well, considering there has been no debate since debate commenced and this bill was amended (and I believe the below is the current version), I think it's time to vote. Please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain.

Question:

Does this apply to regional ballots (Assembly election, etc.)?

The current version says SoFE I believe, not SoFA, as that position no longer exists.

I intend to sign this legislation if it passes.

Question:

Does this apply to regional ballots (Assembly election, etc.)?

Only federal (as that is all the SoFE has control over), though the regions are welcome to institute their own such guidelines.

Agh, you're right PS, I copied the wrong amended version. I don't think there were any other changes to the bill aside from changing SoFA to SoFE, so, I can either edit that post and we can let it slide, or we can be all technical over it and force the vote to be stopped for 24 hours and then restart it, which would be a waste of time, but if people want that..

I believe th ePPT and/'or President of the Seante hav authority to correct obvious typographical and gramatical errors in legislation without resorting to the amendment process.

AYE.

This is true. The final version of the bill is what we vote on even if someone quotes it incorrectly.

Also, AYE.
