It appears to me that most young people who are politically active-whether they be Republicans, Democrats, anarcho-capitalists or totalitarian socialists-are not moderate in their views.

I think a lot of this has to do with distrust of authority in general, whether that authority is business, government, or both.

Also, being "moderate" implies you are satisfied (for the most part) with the status quo. Since  when were young people satisfied with the status quo? I sure as hell ain't.

There are plenty, though most don't have political opinions at all.

Because a lot of them are spoiled and coddled brats who haven't yet learned that they can't always get what they want.

Because young people are dumb, generally speaking. Tongue

I think in most cases it comes down to a lack of critical thinking. Most young people, in my experience, simply take the views of their parents and then apply them without any after-thought at all. Then you have some people who rebel and unquestioningly takes anything that criticizes the views of their parents.

They haven't "grown up" and "realized" that the social status quo is best.  In other words, they haven't been exposed to peer groups that force them to change their ideology in order to be accepted.

My experience is that youngs are just as moderate heroic as olds. Maybe depends on where you live though.

It's all that red bull and food coloring in breakfast cereals, and ink from the tattooes that the kids all get nowadays, and the video games and constant barrage of electronic messages and the radiation from the mobile phones and laptops.

Don't be silly Morgan, most don't care about such things to begin with!

I don't think I accept the premise.  Most young folks I meet try to fit in better than it ever occurred to me to try to do.   Smiley

You mean George W. Bush isn't going to keep winning re-election and the Patriots won't keep winning the Super Bowl?

At least we have President Mark Warner in these dark times.
