http://politicalwire.com/archives/2011/09/18/christie_said_to_be_re-thinking_presidential_bid.html

"Despite months of denials, Paul Gigot claimed on Fox News that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) was "thinking about running now, very carefully."

I ain't buying it and even if true it may be too late. What do you guys think?

He's certainly wise to do it very carefully.  Definitely consult a doctor first, at least.

A fat slob whose state is destroying schools and couldn't even plow its roads last winter is probably the most honest standard bearer Republicans could ask for.

Who would he most closely align with ideologically? Huntsman, Romney, or Perry?

Well, you know, Christie really isn't used to making a final decision...usually he just gets one of everything on the menu.

That was a hurtful statement, and I apologize.

I think this is more wishful thinking on the parts of some who want him to run.

Huh? I wouldn't say that Perry was a household name and he's doing just fine. Plus, with all of his moments of greatness, I'd say that Christie might be even more well known.

Way too late for him to form a campaign organization to successfully compete in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Bill Clinton announced this late in 1991 and performed above expectations in New Hampshire.

He's probably their best candidate to be honest. He connects with working class voters much better than Romney and scares voters much less than Perry. Being catholic can only help him in PA and OH. I don't agree with everything he's done but some of the stuff he did was needed. For instance, the unions in NJ have been out of control and even plenty of Dems acknowledged it.

The continued calls for Christie to enter the race (and recent comments from Mitch Daniels about how there is still time for someone else to get in) show that some of the bigwigs in the GOP feel that both Romney and Perry are compromises and they still want someone who can appeal to both the tea party base and to independents.

I really wish Daniels would consider giving it another go - I think he could still win this.

False comparison.

Everybody except Paul Tsongas started late that year.

Pretty much Huntsman (he's quite moderate on social issues), but he seems more conservative because he's a troll about it.

Daniels would have ended up somewhere between Pawlenty and Huntsman.

Well he actually never thought no in private, but the opportunity will continue to decrease as time goes on. Although having Perry being unstable with a lot of support will work perfectly for a Christie entrance (As it did for Perry who took out Bachmann).

I'd love him as the nominee, but he's a risk media wise. The man says what he wants to say and turns red saying it.
