In some respects, yes. But they have been very helpful in revealing two candidates for what they are: one a shrill Jenny McCarthyite, the other an incoherent moron.

I recognize the first of your labels as Ron Paul, but I couldn't narrow down which of the others your second label specifically referred to.

I believe the saying is, a tragedy lurks just beyond every comedy, but I agree, there's too much at stake to be laughing, assuming the fate of the species is worth fretting over.

Saying "The moderators are doing a great job" or "These debates are helping me learn more about the candidates" would be comedy. The fact that those statements themselves are not true is tragic.
