I think he would have been a Flavor of the Month (as he was in a few polls) with the potential to distinguish himself at debates. He would have been the confrontational debater that Christie could hav ebeen, though the birther issue did hurt him greatly

Once it became apaprent that Trump was actually serious about running his poll numbers cratered. IIRC it was the most rapid plummet in popularity that PPP'd ever recorded. He'd be polling even with Santorum, at best.
