Thanks - processors are a bit beyond my scope.
It's pretty easy - as a *very* rough rule of thumb, the performance of a processor equals its clock speed (in megahertz or gigahertz, 1 GHz = 1000 MHz) times the number of processor cores (a dual-core processor has two, a quad-core has four, etc., the specification was for a single-core processor). As a secondary rough corollary, an Intel processor will generally be better than an AMD processor with equivalent specs.
(To avoid nerdraeg; yes, I know it doesn't really work that way but close enough for a layman).
