I'm surprised to not see a thread about this but well... I devote myself...

The election for the dem party chairman will take place on February 12. The first poll (42% of DNC members) gives :

1st Choice For DNC Chair
Howard Dean 31% (58 votes)
Martin Frost 16 (30 votes)
Tim Roemer 4 (8 votes)
Donnie Fowler 4 (7 votes)
Wellington Webb 2 (4 votes)
Simon Rosenberg 2 (4 votes)
David Leland 1 (1 vote)
Undec/Refused 40 (75 votes)

Combined 1st/2nd Choice
Howard Dean 40% (74 votes)
Martin Frost 27 (50 votes)
Donnie Fowler 11 (20 votes)
Wellington Webb 8 (15 votes)
Simon Rosenberg 8 (15 votes)
Tim Roemer 6 (11 votes)
David Leland 3 (5 votes)

I personally support Howard Dean. This guy is not a hard core liberal as some people think (you can't be a hardcore liberal when you are supported by the NRA...). Moreover, he's anti-establishment (you know that I'm a populist who doesn't like ing elites). Last but not least, time is up to change the failed strategy of the dem party. I strongly believe that this guy will be the right man at the right place...

I watched Dean being interviewed by Alan Colmes and I must admit I agreed with much of what he said

Has Dean reverted to "Governer of Vermont" mode?

BTW, based on that poll, Frost would probably get it

I watched Roemer on Hannity and Colmes last night and I agree with alot of what he said, but he didnt have a plan to acctualy execute the things he said.  Dean on the other hand has a very detailed plan to get the Democratic message out.

I actually think this is a better job for him than President. He knows how to get out a message, and He's great at fundraising, which are the two big requirements of the job.

His whole campaign was really a referendum on the direction of the Democratic Party, and his core message of strong opposition has sunk in, especially after Nov. 2.

Howard Dean:

Liberal at heart.
Pragmatic about implementing policies
Understands the Internet (and does not claim to have invented it Wink
Knows how to raise money
Is not a strongly divisive figure
Can be an effective speaker (just no screams, please)

If Dean has learned the lessons of the past few election cycles he could be a good, effective leader of the party.

If not the Republicans will be looking at 60+ senate seats soon.

That seems to be the way Dean is.  He may have had the best chance to beat Bush while also being the most likely to lose in a landslide.  As DNC chair he may be the best chance to return the party to power while also haveing a chance of giving the Republicans complete, unopposed control of the Senate and maybe even the House.
