Major FF. Was not a fan at first given her political opportunism, but she has been a fantastic senator, and not just because she's a progressive. She is one of the best senators in terms of her constituents, which was probably why she was a blue dog earlier in her career.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Neutral, lean HP for being such a blatant political opportunist (ala LBJ or Charlie Crist).

Don't forget Mitt!

Come on, only Democrats can be blatant political opportunists.
Even if Romney is an opportunist, it's nowhere near on the level of those guys.

The idea that Kirsten Gillibrand is more of an opportunist than Mitt Romney is...

How is it "completely insane"? Mitt Romney changed his entire image for the party, sure, but isn't that EXACTLY what Kirsten Gillibrand did?

I know that they are different, in that Mitt Romney has almost no positions at all and Kirsten Gillibrand does, but how is it that different that Romney went from a Centrist Governor of Massachusetts to a Right-wing Republican nominee when Gillibrand went from a centrist congresswoman to a left-wing senator?

Because Romney shifted for a Presidential run, while Gillibrand shifted to match the people she serves as Senator. Gillibrand actually applied her shift to cotes on the senate floor, and committed to it; Romney just used rhetoric while running for President and then shifted back asap.

Lean FF. Has been a good Senator, but I didn't like how she flip-flopped on certain issues because her constituents changed.
