Well, you seem confident. Tongue

It's hard to predict how Webb would do, because we don't know if the amount of liberals who refuse to vote for him would outweigh the conservatives he sways. Same goes for Chafee, but with him, the potential gain is much less than Webb, because he was never known to be very conservative.

Sanders is also hard to predict because we don't know how people would react to the socialist moniker. It's all a matter of whether people would listen to him as he discusses policy in depth or if he would come off as eggheaded and boring to them. Also, with Sanders, it's very easy to paint him as a radical. Running against Jeb, that could hurt him.

You are literally high as a kite if you think Webb would destroy Bush like that, barely anybody even knows who the man is. He would be swept in an election.

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. Very few people knew who Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton were sixteen months before the election, either.

Webb alienates social liberals and yet you gave him all of the northeastern states. Not to mention Bush loses Florida to him as well? What??

Bush vs. Sanders: Lean Bush
Bush vs. O'Malley: Likely Bush
Bush vs. Webb: Safe Bush
Bush vs. Chafee: Safe Bush

How the hell is Bush vs. Sanders not safe Bush. Do you really think a self proclaimed socialist has anything more than a snowballs chance in hell of winning a national election. Lincoln Chafee has a better chance of becoming president than Bernie Sanders.

Bush VS Clinton: lean Clinton
Bush VS Biden: Tossup
Bush VS O'Malley: Tossup
Bush VS Webb: lean Bush
Bush VS Chafee: lean Bush
Bush VS Sanders: likely/safe Bush

I don't need to explain Hillary. Biden and O'Malley would make 2016 look like 2000, where Bush was comfortably ahead for most of the race until the party coalesced around Gore. Webb and Chafee aren't serious candidates TBH. There are going to be a lot of Democrats for Bush if Sanders gets nominated. Seriously, Sanders has no appeal to moderates at all. They'll abandon the party if Democrats allow him to be nominated.

This is my diagnosis:

Bush vs. Clinton - The election becomes a referendum on the Bush and Clinton years despite Bush's best efforts to distance himself and run as a moderate. Hillary is a very shrewd politician. LIKELY CLINTON

Bush vs. Sanders - Bush runs as a moderate hero, Bernie runs as a reformer for radical change. Jeb blasts Bernie as an extremist, Bernie attacks Jeb on his family name and economic policy. TOSS-UP

  • Bernie could suffer heavy losses in moderate voters.
  • Bernie could turn out disaffected voters who have been marginalized by "business as usual" partisan politics.
  • Bernie is easy to attack as an extremist.
  • Jeb is easy to attack on his family name.

Bush vs. O'Malley - Bush runs as a compassionate conservative, O'Malley campaigns as a liberal, runs on his record in Maryland. Bush runs on a platform similar to his brother's in 2000, O'Malley tries to evade his perception as a boring egghead technocrat. SLIGHT BUSH

Bush vs. Chafee - Bush runs as a compassionate conservative, Chafee runs as moderate hero. Bush blasts him for being a flip-flopper without convictions. Meanwhile, Chafee tries to gain the trust of the liberal base. Around the beltway, Chafee is beloved but fails to win over many actual voters. LEAN BUSH

Jeb vs. Webb - Bush runs as a compassionate conservative, Webb runs as a conservative Democrat. Meanwhile, Webb tries to win over former Democrats in the South, and conservatives in general. TOSS-UP

  • Webb risks alienating liberal voters.
  • Webb could pick up dixiecrats in the South, and really any economically liberal social conservatives.
  • Jeb can still be attacked on his family name. This is his biggest problem in 2016.
