GOP, Priebus and conservative primary voters must chow down on the repercussions of nominating Trump.

They didn't support Trump.

Trump voters:
1. Adhere to traditional cultural values
2. Are drawn to traditional notions of masculinity and leadership
3. Are skeptical of new ideas
4. Long for a return to a better time
5. Believe their own country and its culture are the best in the world
6. Show little interest in experiencing new, foreign, or novel things
7. Prefer security to liberty - especially to the liberty of outsiders.

That sounds pretty conservative to me.  Of course, your definition is probably some notion of limited government.  Limited government is not conservative at all.
