Rather then waiting for 2016 to run for his old Senate seat, Russ Feingold runs in 2012 for Herb Kohl's open seat and wins. In 2016, he runs for President, and since Sanders motive for running was that no other progressive was running, Sanders doesn't run. What does the map look like?

Feingold wins all the states Sanders did, plus Massachusetts, Iowa, South Dakota, Nevada, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Connecticut, California, Kentucky, New Mexico, and North Carolina. This is more than enough to win the nomination.

That's still a very close map.

To be clear, it's by a fairly wide margin...
