October 2001

Following the September 11th attacks, President Gore knew that there was only one thing that he could do and although he did not want to, after a series of meetings with the Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State and the Joint Chiefs, he decided to go ahead with airstrikes and a full-scale invasion of Afghanistan in an attempt to capture or kill Osama bin Laden.

Meanwhile, the situation with Israel and Palestine became increasingly violent with Israeli forces staging a ground invasion into the West Bank. Vice President Bayh made it clear that although America stands with their Israeli allies, they will play no part in this invasion of the West Bank.

On a lighter note, the New York Yankees won an emotional 7-game World Series.

November 2001

In the November 2001 elections in the United States, Mark Warner succeeded in defeating Mark Earley to become the Governor of the State of Virginia.

Meanwhile, former Jersey City Mayor Bret Schundler shocked many as he defeated Elliot Greenspan to become the new Governor of the State of New Jersey.

In New York City, it was Fernando Ferrer who defeated Michael Bloomberg by the slimmest of margins to become the new Mayor of the city, still reeling from the September 11th attacks.
