If the 2020 Democratic primary ends up being another two-horse race like it was in 2008 and 2016, which two candidates would it likely be between?

Between Kamala Harris and Tulsi Gabbard. It's unlikely though; few people excite such emotions as Hillary Clinton, either pro- or con-. Hillary was a real rohrschach test for our country's attitudes on gender. No one else comes close.

I feel like there's no way it could be a two-horse race at this point, but my prediction would be Warren and Biden.

I'd prefer it not be that way. Having a binary choice quickly sets a narrative that allows both candidates to be painted in ways that are inherently false. However, I chose Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren.

I chose Gillibrand vs Warren, but Biden vs Warren, Biden vs Sanders, and Gillibrand vs Sanders are also possibilities. I think Harris sort of bridges the leftist/liberal divide, so will either go nowhere or dominate.

I mean most primaries do end up being two horse races. I think a three or four person race with how the Dem primary is set up with proportional delegates would likely end up a in contested convention. The field usually is thinned out by Super Tuesday.

Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.  Bernie's got a lot of very strong supporters and he's popular with younger Democrats.  Joe's going to have a lot of African-Americans, who will be the majority in the Southern primaries.  So I think its going to be a divide between African-Americans, who will favor Biden because he was Obama's loyal VP, and the youth vote, which might be more ideologically left and go for Bernie's free tuition platform.

... We're screwed.

We need a field of 40 or 50 candidates, goddammit.
