California tax payers pay out, yet nobody is punished.

It's weird that we have so many threads on Moore, but none (that I noticed) about this.

Bonus hypocrisy points, this is the legislative body that passed a sexual harassment law for college kids so onerous on those accused of it that Jerry Brown had to veto it.

Are California voters sick?

No, it is the abusers who are amoral. They need to lose their jobs and maybe end up in prison.

No California voters aren't sick. Sexual harassment is rampant in every corner of this country.

What's different now is that women feel empowered to speak up and expect that something be done about it. Let's not make this into a partisan issue.

The dissonance present in this post is utterly astounding

It's almost like the nation's leading political party is backing a bigoted theocratic pedophile in the most hotly watched race in the nation, with a conclusion mere weeks away, on a website focused on elections. But I'm sure that has nothing to do with it, and it's really all due to liberal bias.

so, what you are saying is, a sex scandal involving 200 women in the state capital of the nations biggest state isn't as big of a deal as a Senate election in Alabama.  k, got it.  Should we be expecting the outrage when the election is over?
Let's not make this into a partisan issue.
Indeed, lets not....which is why I found this it odd that this two week old story wasn't being talked about here.

so, what you are saying is, a sex scandal involving 200 women in the state capital of the nations biggest state isn't as big of a deal as a Senate election in Alabama where the leading candidate is a promient Republican theocrat and bigot who has been recently exposed as a pedophile with a long history of harassing and assaulting underage women.

FIFY. YW.

You're conflating objective degree of importance with number of threads on Atlas.

Also, why didn't any of our right-leaning posters bring it up a month ago when it was reported in the New York Times? You'd think bad behavior in legislature dominated by the Dems would be the thing they'd be all over. I'm sure it wasn't just that Republicans are only concerned with abuse of women when they're desperately trying to play the 'both sides do it' card in defense of one of their deplorables who's been caught out.

This is a disaster, yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a lot of Bocanegra-esque incidents or even resignations as more comes out. Hopefully we can get rid of all of the perps and replace them with people who aren't total pigs.

agreed, weird.  Also weird that it's been generally ignored by the press, especially considering what all the other top news stories are.  It's also weird that you and the "Centrist" seem more pissed at me for bringing it up than you do at the guys whipping out their dicks at their underlings.  Dissonance indeed.

I can't speak for Centrist, but it looks to me like you're being actively deceptive with your use of language on this topic.

I mean the reason this was less talked about than Moore is pretty simple: people pay more attention to a Senate race than to local State politics.

Anyway, this is horrible and all the people involved in this need to be kicked out of office an hopefully locked up (normal).

No, I find it funny you're incensed by this huge outbreak of sexual harassment and assault at the highest levels of government...and then, in the very next sentence, you refer to California's proposed yes-means-yes law as onerous.

It's apparent that you only care about this issue insofar as you can use it as a cudgel against your opponents. Of course this is a major issue and ought to be immediately investigated. There is a culture of abuse and rape that exists in this country and it must be destroyed. You, however, have consistently said the exact opposite when it comes to this issue. I will note that consistently arguing in bad faith isn't healthy.

right, just like Jerry Brown.  Is he wrong?  There are some very serious issues with it.  It's ok if you don't think someone can be against sexual assault and want fairness in the prosecution of same.  How do you feel about murder?  Do you think the accused should have a fair trial?  Does that make you a hypocrite?  No, of course not.
