Anyone know? Has he ever said anything about this?

I just realized he's younger than the members of those first wave of French (real) emo bands from the 90s.

He’s one of those city libs who goes to the opera and the symphony. He’s very pretentious in his artistic tastes, so I assume his music preferences would be similarly insufferable.

15 years ago though?

I mean he was only like 7 when Revolution Summer occurred, and it didn't take long (by pre-Internet standards) for that sound to come to France. That sound was already in Germany and the UK by the time of reunification and it made it over the border to France not too long afterwards.

He probably lounges around listening to Edith Piaf while sipping Cappuccino like a hipster dbag.

Johnny Halliday and Charles Aznavour are massive Freedom Musicians, so are:
-Dalida (Le Pen's choice),
-Sting (Fillon's choice),
-Jacques Brel and Marie Laforêt (some of Lassalle's choices)
-and Jean Ferrat (one of Cheminade's choices, on the other hand how can you like a Freedom Musician like Ferrat and then also like a massive Horrible Musician like Kery James?!).

I remember from an interview that Rossini is his favourite composer.

Perhaps Macron is pretentious, or perhaps you only think that because you're from South Dakota?

Has there ever been a stronger indication that a politician is a wrong-un than that?

The fact that Johnny Hallyday is considered a cultural icon these days says all you need to know about France's cultural decline, yeah.

I mean he was twenty years ago as well, so at least it's not a new cultural decline? Does this make you feel better or the opposite?

I mean, I knew the bulk of the decline occurred in the 1980s and 90s, but I think it's safe to say the trend is still ongoing.
