Well last time, we had:
"Vote for me, I'm a woman".

It didn't work out well.

People should vote for whatever a candidate has to offer to them / their country, not for what race / gender they have.

Well,
"Vote for me, I'm black"
seems to work, since African-American voters bloc vote.

Obama was better at fooling people into thinking he wasn't a neoliberal. It's going to be harder to fool people this time.

My guess is that he's eyeing that VP spot. No way he's gonna be the Dem nominee.

This is all because Obama picked Castro as keynote speaker in 2012... Obama thought he would be his 2.0 version and possibly turn Texas blue.

Since then, Obama made the stupid move (and Castro made a politically stupid decision accepting this) of bringing him into his cabinet, making him toxic enough to NEVER be elected statewide in Texas as either Governor or Senator.

Perhaps Castro could have dug himself out of that ditch, but instead, he's going straight for the presidency, in such a blatant way, without much to back him up beyond "Obama liked me in 2012." As a rising star, he's been a dud... maybe a comparison to Phaethon or Icarus from Ancient Greek Mythology would be more appropriate.

If Obama hadn't picked him as keynote speaker, he would have never gotten on national radar. And if Obama did do that, but didn't pick him for a Cabinet position, then he might have actually had a shot... if he went for Senator or Governor first and delivered. Obama thought this guy would be Beto, but he's no Beto.
