Well I consider my self a Moderate due to the fact I am pretty moderate compared to the Post 2010 Republican Party

That's like saying someone slightly to the right of a literal socialist is a "moderate."

See: late 2010s Democrats.

Obama was considered a liberal Democrat when he was in office but now he would be considered a moderate Democrat and Reagan now also would be considered a moderate Republican.

Obama is nowhere near as far to the left as the post-2010 Republican Party is to the right. Maybe you are fairly centrist on some issues, my point was merely that the current Republican Party isn't a good point of comparison.

Yes, it's like claiming Mussolini was a moderate because Hitler.

The question is how moderate is defined. Or is it a general term? And is moderate equal to centrist?

I’m not saying he is , I actually said he is as far to the left as Reagan was to the right and both would be considered moderates in their parties now

Maybe the better term might be pragmatic conservative and pragmatic liberal

Yeah, I'm not sure where the assumption comes from that independent = claiming to be 'moderate'.

Or likewise that being a member of a party (and even a hackish one) is antithetical to being a moderate. Atlas operates under this weird assumption that party loyalty is generally motivated by ideological commitment, but having lived a bit in the real world some of the biggest hacks you'll meet actually have pretty moderate politics.

I find posters like Bagel refreshing for this reason; he's in the tank for the Democrats, but not because he is some staunch lefty who necessarily prefers them to the GOP on every issue. Nobody outside of the extremely online sort that sites like this one attract actually thinks of partisan politics in terms of a matrix of policy planks where you pick the side that better reflects your opinions on the balance of the issues.

Lol thank you pit.
