If for whatever reason, former Governor and Senator Mike Castle challenged Chris Coons, would he have any chance of winning?

Nah, Senate races are too partisan these days for Castle to have a chance, should he even win his primary.

2010 was Castle's best chance to make it to the Senate, but the primary electorate pulled the plug on that. He doesn't have a chance now.

About as much of a chance as Mike Beebe does of beating Tom Cotton.

Isn't Castle older than George Burns?

If Castle is lucky, he'd do as "well" as Bredesen.

Castle would lose. It's hard to imagine Delaware electing a Republican at the federal level these days.

Castle was a Representative (granted, elected at-large), not a Senator.

Mike Castle would probably be retiring in 2020 if he won in 2010.

Anyways I will say that it is my opinion that Delaware Republican primary voters are collectively the dumbest set of primary voters in the Country, because what they did in their 2010 primary was literally to decide that they wanted a Senate race to be Safe D instead of Safe R, and such was completely obvious, even without hindsight.

Honorable mentions also go to Nevada and Colorado Republicans that year but Delaware takes the cake for sure
