Senator Peanut

The Senator's Office at the Hart Senate Office Building in Nyman, D.C:
door open and free apple pie for every Lincolnite.

Hello, Lincoln and Atlasia! Before I make my federal debut, I want to thank every Lincoln citizen for giving me the chance to serve as your Governor for more than two terms: it has been the honor of my time in Atlasia. Now, as I move to Nyman to work hard for you in the Senate I do so in full knowledge that our leadership in New York City won't let us down.

Now, I am Senator Peanut! And I'm ready to fight hard for the rights of the little guy here in Nyman... if you think I'm going to sit down and vote quietly, you've got another thing coming. Thank you, Atlasia!

This is my office thread and I welcome any citizen of our fair Republic with any question or comment. I'll be keeping it updated to show how I am serving you. Let's get it done! Smiley

I'm drafting up a bill regarding mental health in rural communities, to complement my predecessor's Assistance to Rural Farm Stress Assistance Act. As soon as I see what happens to the bill in the People's House, I shall make the necessary modifications to my ideas and present them to the Senate.

Additionally, stay tuned regarding a possible reintroduction of the Equal Rights for Everyone Amendment, which was defeated in the House and (to my knowledge) never reintroduced. I might have a few opinions on that.

I just cast my vote for my esteemed colleage North Carolina Yankee for the position of President Pro Tempore. He has been a committed, active and hugely influential member of our chamber and our game at large, and it is an honor to serve alongside him as Senator.

So what's Senator Peanut doing, really?

Well, you'd be forgiven for asking that, dear Lincolnite! Truthfully I haven't been as active as I hope to be in less than two weeks when I hopefully get all my stuff moved to Nyman, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working hard to represent you, from Belleville all the way to Arostook.

I will admit most of the things I've done have been "Aye" votes, but a few important things come to mind. I just left the Senate floor to vote against a constitutional amendment to add low-potency explosives to the Second  Amendment, but is that really worth amending the Constitution over? I'm all for Atlasians having fun, but I think it'd be more effective to use other methods to accomplish these freedoms. I also abstained earlier today on Mr. ASV's confirmation as Deputy Game Moderator--not that I think he'd do a bad job in many aspects of GMing, but I believe if we are to accomplish reform like the one I have introduced to the Senate queue we should get a clean break from the last GM's office.

As always, I'll keep you updated, Lincoln!  Again, any Lincolnite is free to come to my office for a free slice of Mamá Peanut's apple pie.

Late, but I wish yesterday was a very happy MLK Day to all our Lincolnites! Let us remember the contributions of people like Dr. King and other fighters for civil rights, and remember that our region - and our country - are better if they keep up progress and action on the issues that affect us and if they care for their weakest no matter the color of their skin, their social status, or any other aspect. After all, "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere".
