http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/February%202006/New%20York%20Presidential%20Match-ups.htm

Clinton = 52
Guiliani = 33

Clinton = 48
Pataki = 39

You remember that Hannity quote 'Guiliani would carry NY, NJ and PA against Hillary. Dont have numbers on NJ and PA. But thats a massive lead

What surprises me is that Pataki has better numbers than Guilani.

Oooh!  She's winning New York--what a swing state.
Reps. know better than to nominate Giuliani.  The populist act has been working out well for them.

HHHMMM..........

Now, let me get this straight..........

A liberal Democrat winning a liberal Democratic state..........

Against a Republican..........

That is, against either of two Republicans..........

That is, two Republicans who have no hope whatsoever of becoming the Republican Presidential nominee or for that matter even the Republican Vice Presidential nominee..........

HHHMMM..........

Shocking..........

Strange..........

There is absolutely no need to use that kind of language on this forum.

Besides, it's against forum rules.

If Giuliani runs, I might switch parties to vote for him in the primary.

Giuliani (or any Republican, for that matter) losing New York is no surprise to me.  I'd be much more interested in seeing numbers from NJ, PA, Ohio, etc.

In a Hillary v. Giuliani match-up in those and other swing states, I seriously doubt Hillary could win.

I think Rasmussen screwed up in their graphic department  because further down on the page it reads

Clinton leads Giuliani statewide by a 48% to 39% margin. She holds an even more decisive edge against Pataki, 52% to 33%.

Either way its not exactly a suprise.  NY is a Dem state, and all the Senate polls had Clinton with a solid lead over Rudy (though not a huge lead) and Clinton wiping the floor with Pataki

Difficult indeed to imagine Pataki better than Rudy Giuliani.

I think it's pretty pointless to even show polls from states like New York.  All they do is show how much of a margin the Democratic candidate is going to win.

If the poll was taken September 12th, 2001, Guilani would have landslided.

Last time I checked, Romney did not begin with a "G."

Anyway, her polls are all over the place.  In a recent poll from Siena College's Research Institute, about half of the respondents said they would not vote for her.

"Poll: New Yorkers think Clinton will run for prez; won't back her"

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Six in 10 New York voters believe Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is planning to run for president in 2008, but only about a third of her home-state voters say they would back her if she did so, a statewide poll reported Thursday.

Almost half of New York voters, including three of every 10 Democrats, said they would not vote for her for president, according to the poll from Siena College's Research Institute.
The Siena findings mirror those reported by Marist College's Institute for Public Opinion in a January poll that found 59 percent of New York voters said they expect Clinton to run for president, but 62 percent said it was unlikely she could win.

(Cont...)

"NYers Won’t Vote For Clinton or Pataki For President
In ’08 – Would, However, Prefer Hillary to George"

“While six in ten New York voters think Hillary is running for President in 2008, only slightly more than one-third think George Pataki is running for President,” said Joe Caruso, Director of Polling for the Siena Research Institute (SRI).  “Only 20 percent said they would vote for the Governor if he ran for President, and Hillary did not fare well with New York voters either, with only 36 percent saying they would vote for her and 48 percent saying they would not.

She hasn't locked up the state yet, NomoCatholic.
