In a revival of the planned "friendly" election between JFK and Goldwater, fellow atlas users Old School Dem faces off against Old School Rep in what political scientists would refer to as an unexpected throwback to the late 20th century. I chose Western Democrat since he's a respectable likeminded thinker despite being a Red avatar and I chose Tar Heel Gent to link the Trumpian Republicans with OSR, even though they're both establishment Reps. While OSR & I represent two distinct wings (even though I'm technically an indie), OSR is closer to the median GOP voter than I am, so in this scenario I'll revert back to being a Dem. The P.V. is close and OSR might've won it, depending on how well he did in urban/suburban areas.

OSR wins in a landslide because he didn't break The Rule™. In a vacuum, though, I'd probably vote for Christian Man.

When is the POD for this scenario cause it probably would have to have to start in the 1990s . I would say this could be the presidents list from 1992-2024

1993-2001: Bob Casey Sr
2001-2009: John McCain
2009-2017: Bill Nelson
2017-2025: Chris Christe

There was no real date on it, but I assume not too long ago or in the future. A lot of voters switched parties because I am much different from the average establishment Dem and you/THG's politics are more of a pre-Trump throwback, which means that the WWC goes Democrat and most of the military/white collar/suburb vote goes to you. DPK Debater was my first choice but I couldn't have a running mate from the same state and he wouldn't attract progressives and Chips was another one I considered but I wanted a registered Dem on the ticket in which those in the left-wing of the party could hold their noses for.

I'm not sure this is in the right board, though you'll have to check.

I'd vote for Old School Democrat/Christian Man for sure. But the EC map wouldn't change that much.

We're so divided as a nation I could only see GA, AZ, NV, NH and NE-02 flipping to OSR and IA and OH (and possibly ME-02) flipping to Christian Man. VA would be close but I'll give it to OSR. If this is 2024 though that ship would have sailed.

Indiana though would probably go to me given that it was a staunchly Republican state through its history and not a conservadem one . 2008 Indiana was more a fluke due to the recession rather than any revertion to how it used to be .

On the other hand I think you would probably take KY in this sort of map

That's a good point. I was thinking you'd win Kentucky since they turned against most Dem's in the '90s, but they have a Con. Dem governor and Indiana I was assuming because of The Rust Belt-style populism but there's probably enough establishment Reps to vote for you, especially seeing how Romney won it by double-digits and Bush won it by around 20 before Obama. I'll make those changes since they make sense.

Assuming this is 2020 and say there wasn’t really much of a POD I’d say this would be the map

Whoever wins Ohio wins the election

Assuming a POD going back to sometime in the early to mid 1990s I could see something like this being the map

Ohio once again ends up the tipping point state. Imo I think given the fact that Clinton barely won TN in 1996 it was pretty much gone anyway and I think WA is  too far gone by then given that Gore still won WA by over 5 points with Nader in the race

I guess another question would be how Vigo County votes and whether or not it votes for the winner? It's Rust Belty in nature so I probably have an advantage but it would be interesting if I won Vigo County but you won Ohio, giving it 1952 vibes.
