The 2008 State of the Union Address will be delivered on Monday, January 28, 2008.  This will be President Bush's 8th and final address!  YAY!!!!

What do you expect him to say.  How will the Democrats receive it?  How will the Republicans receive it?  How will the Presidential Candidates on both sides receive it?  How will the American people receive it?

I expect him to give equal attention to economic uncertainties, and the war in Iraq in his speech, along with some attention to Iran.  I expect these to be his main focus in his upcoming (and final) SOTU.

He'll be grasping straws trying to remind everyone he isn't completely irrelevant.

>>>>>>  What do you expect him to say?  <<<<<<<<

Foreign Policy

1.   Iraq is now free.
2.   We are turning the corner.
3.   Stay the course.
4.   If we don't fight them over there, we will fight them over here.
5.   Oceans can no longer protect us.
6.   If you're not with us, you're against us.
7.   I'll bring peace to Palestine.
8.   I'll speak to the Chinese about their toys.

Domestic Policy

1.   We can avoid recession by cutting Warren Buffett's taxes again.
2.   Gas prices will come down because the oil companies are basically good.
3.   The free market fairies will solve all our problems.
4.   Congress is evil.
5.   We are making tremendous strides in something -- not sure what, but it will probably
      remarkably absurd.

General Comments

1.    Being the President is hard work.
2.    America is great because look -- there are black people and women running for
       President.
3.    The state of the Union is pretty good, thanks to me.  But if it is lousy in some areas,
you can place blame squarely on the Democrats.

I think that about sums it up.

I know what he'd like to say, but it probably wouldn't make it past the censors.

He'll be grasping straws trying to remind everyone he isn't completely irrelevant.

Who's this Bush character again? Tongue

I'd just like to hear him mention alternate energy and the environment.

I think it's Governor Kathleen Sebelious of Kansas, according to what I heard.

Good choice if so.  Does anyone else think she'd make a good running mate for Obama?

He's mentioned alternative energy in nearly every SOTU he's given and yet there has been little action except an increase in subsidies to the ethanol industry.  If we were really serious about ethanol we'd be importing the cheaper stuff from Brazil.  Its not really going to solve our problems anyway.

We know what he'll say.  Worthless Neocon catch-phrases and little else.  That speech is so bad anymore, I can't tell the difference between Dem or Repub these days.  If Hillary was President, her speech would be just like Bush's.  Seriously, there is no difference between parties anymore so why even get excited by these people?

He obviously shouldn't mention Iraq, the War on Terror, or any other political issue he's mentioned the past however many speeches he's given.

I'm beginning to wonder if the media will pay any attention to this and instead focus on the next day's all important Florida primary.  Tongue
