Sewer would be elected without opposition, which is a big problem.

How so?

Bacon King wouldn't be a bad PPT if he's up for it (jus' sayin'...)

IIRC, there are clauses in the OPSR that more or less require the positions of VP and PPT to be separate.

I don't believe so, as the VP serves as the de-facto PPT when there is none.

That is correct. But I don't believe he can be elected PPT.

Oh, he wouldn't be elected. All he needs to do is fail to open up an election thread. Sure, its against the OSPR, but the VP is not technically bound by a Senate resolution governing internal affairs. Every VP could simply do this if they wanted to be PPT.

Impossible, since there is a declared candidate.

Correct.

I mean, I'd like to still have you in the Senate, but your departure makes it easier for Jas to win. And you'd be a good Justice.

There are many new Senators likely to get into office. Shouldn't we leave it to a new group? Besides, I don't think it's appropriate I run my own confirmation hearing. Though I suppose BK could handle that..

I'm open to running the Senate procedure until the new session, if people think it's appropriate.

At least do it until the end of the session.

Senators, considering Marokai's subsequent resignation, consider the 48 hour deadline for this thread still in effect. Smiley Unless Marokai decides to stay on as PPT through his nomination, and if so that would be cool.

If nobody minds, I'll take over until the end of this term.

But if Hashemite or Afleitch clearly want to do it, I'll yield.

I second Franzl's candidacy.

As it's close to Christmas I don't anticipate the Senate will be or should be 'busy busy' Smiley

Hi Guys:

I greatly appriciate my name being floated for PPT if elected (cross fingers). My focus for now is obviously on the election, and I will certainly consider running if elected once we see the makeup of the new Senate.

That said, like Lief my first preference would be for Bacon King to be PPT next term. Simply put, he'd do great. Xahar, could you please link/post the statutes/constitutional provisions you believe would prohibit the VP from being PPT?
