Ah, Lief, but this level of hypocrisy is quite common.

The Southern states are always complaining about "high taxes", but they still tend to get the most money back from the federal government....certainly far more than they pay.

And at the same time they complain about the federal government having to much control over their lives....they're happily calling for a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage throughout the whole nation.

It doesn't surprise me that Mr. Perry would advocate secession only when it is convenient for him.

Why doesn't he secede? He'd obviously be much better equiped and prepared to fight swine flu without the help of those goddamned libruhls.

Yes... he really doesn't need those democrat socialist libruls telling him how to fight the flu!  Texas is big and bad and can deal with it on its own.

Perhaps we can give Texas a little taste of secession.  Seal the state borders to contain the flu!  Every man for himself!

(of course I'm kidding and I think the federal government should do everything it can to help Texas combat this very dangerous flu... but I can't resist pointing out the hypocrisy here)
