Presidential Press Conference

After a long delay due to technical difficulties with the President's microphone, the press conference will now begin. The President announces a full investigation into which company manufactured the microphones, and orders that the awarding of the White House microphone contract in the future go to a new company.

Mr. President, what are your feelings on the so called 'Jesus Christ Party', and what do you plan to do about them?

I feel that they have a right to form a party and to run a candidate, as long as they conform to all of the rules of the Atlas Constitution. However, the preponderance of registered voters from the State of Washington in the party troubles me, as it seems highly unlikely, given both the number and rapid rate of registration, that there has not been registration fraud. I feel that it is reasonable and proper, for the sanctity of the Atlas Forum elections, to investigate whether or not there has been voter fraud in registrations in Washington. I will order Attorney General MAS117 to begin an investigation of this manner when he returns from his vacation on Monday.

I sincerely hope that I am not wrong in my suspicions of fraud, and if an investigation clears the Jesus Christ Party of wrongdoing, then I will welcome them into the Atlas Forum election process.

I welcome any and all candidates to run. We have a democratic process, and we will have an election, and the people will make their choice. I welcome you into the race. It will be up to the voters to decide whether or not the fact that you overturned your earlier pledge not to run should be a factor in the race or not. That's for the people to decide, not me.

Personally I am surprised that there have been so many announcements so early, given that we have just begun the process of creating a new government and we still haven't even had the midterm elections yet, but the timing of the announcements is not something for me to cast personal judgement on.

An announcement on this matter will be forthcoming, but not before the midterm elections. Right now I am focused on my job and not on reelection. As far as I'm concerned, there will be plenty of time for campaigning later. Right now I have a job to do for the Atlas Forum members and I am putting all of my energies into that.

What do you think of the possibility of "John" running for the Republican nomination? There has been some controversy in the past about whether he is legitamate or not. Is it possible you could launch an investagation into "John" to figure out if he is indeed a "troll"?

Mr. President, given the lack of direction in this nation, do you feel that we will acctually be able to organizefor the mid-term elections on time?

I feel that John should comply with the requirement to have an avatar, or at the minimum openly declare his home state if he does not wish to display it graphically. If he abides by all rules of candidacy as laid out in the Constitution, then he is free to run and I welcome his candidacy.

Supersoulty--

I do not believe that the midterm elections have been officially scheduled yet. However, if the government is completely up and running by the end of March, then I don't think that it would be unduly difficult to conduct midterms by the end of April, or at the very latest, in early May. That timetable, however, will have to be determined by the members of the Forum.

And what are your plans for getting the government up and running?

Well, it seems that the Constitutional process is rapidly moving along, and nearly complete. I think that it will not be too difficult to get things up and running soon.

Have you talked to Mr. Leip about possibly appointing a moderator to this board? It seems like a job for the Secretary of Forum Affairs if possible.

I have not yet, but that is definitely an idea that should be entertained, given the large amount of interest in the Atlas Fantasy elections, and in the desire to prevent things from potentially getting out of hand.
