Since Texas was an independent nation at one time I think it would be Texas instead of Texalahoma..

Canada would have Alaska and Hawaii would become an independent nation. Texas and Oklahoma would go alone...

Suggusted names...

Confederate States of New England (CSNE)
I like this name, I believe it works pretty well.  Saw it on a WI map on the Alternate History Travel Guides.  Secedes in 1814 after a much worse War of 1812.

United States of America (USA)
Obviously.

Western States of America (WSA)
Was thinking Pacific States of America, but you have the Southwest here...so, yeah.  US expansion west still occurs after the break-off of the CSNE, but the Western States aren't all that fond of slavery, and decide to secede in the 1860's.

Confederated States of North America (CSNA)
Orginal name for the south was the Confederate States of North America.  With a CSNE in the north, they'd settle for "Confederated".  They would secede in the 1880's following a Midwest/Upper South attempt for gradual emancipation.

Commonwealth of Oregon
The US still purchases Oregon, but these states decide to secede along with the WSA in the 1860's.  After two or three decades in a republic dominated by Mexican-Americans, the white men of the north decide to bolt.  Very friendly with UK and Canada.

Republic of Texas (RT)
Secedes from Mexico, for a variety of reasons the US invades, takes over the state, but as the Union dissolves and heads towards abolition, the independent minded Texians secede again on July 4, 1876.

United Socialist States of America (USSA)
Why not?  Milwaukee once elected a Socialist to Congress, and this area would be ripe for progressive/socialist thinking.

I would put new york new jersey and penn in with new england if the original split was a result of 1812.

My take:

Red- New England
Green- Confederate States
Blue- USA
Grey- Texas
Yellow- California
Purple- Deseret

Alaska and Hawaii are owned by Russia and England, respectively. The northwest was annexed by England.

We're not trying to break up the country, we're looking at how, in history, it could have been broken up.

And I have NO idea where imperialism comes into this.
