Gerald Ford ran for and was a top contender for the Republican Party's Vice-Presidential nomination in 1960. Henry Cabot Lodge won the nomination, but he proved to be a very poor canidate.

Ford on the ballot definatley wins Nixon Ford's home state of Michigan, but what other states could he help Nixon carry?

Ford would have gotten Michigan and Illinois for Nixon.

Ford would have gotten Michigan and Illinois for Nixon.

Which means there would have been no electoral majority and it would have been sent to the House. I believe the Dems controlled the House back in '60 so Kennedy would have still won.

If Ford could have knocked Nixon up a  half percentage point or so, Nixon might have been able to win Missouri and New Jersey too.
