(Richmond proper of course considering how absolutely hellish the suburbs are)

The suburbs ought to be walled off and have tons of rocks piled behind the wall to avoid contaminating Richmond.

that's actually a pretty good idea for the Twin Cities, except we could keep a few suburbs like St. Louis Park and Brooklyn Center inside. After ilikeverin moves there of course Smiley

Aww, you're so kind Wink Smiley

Keystone Phil, don't get too excited over this, but one of my best friends is a conservative Republican from Northeast Philly.

I know that there are other conservatives in the NE so why would I get excited?

Most of my friends are like me, socially liberal, fiscally moderate/conservative. I could never be friends with a social conservative. I also would refuse to speak to anyone who espoused extreme racist or homophobic views.

The new brand of conservatives are the ranting pathological hatemongers of political discourse, and I avoid them like the plague.

The word "conservative" has come to mean "keep your distance".

Most of my friends are conservatives on European standards and vote for the Conservative Party. Most of them have very conservative attitude about military issues and international politics (Most of them are historians) and couple of them support Bush. They are fairly moderate about economy and social issues though. One of my friends is a religious fundamentalist, which is rather unusual in Finland. He was a candidate of a small populist party in the Parliament election in the last year! One of my friends is exactly like Opebo!

I have several leftists friend too. One of them used to be an anarchist, but he took more moderate position few years ago.
