1) He just got the endorsment of the largest Central CA newspaper.  Newspaper endorsments helped him alot in Wisconsin.

2) A GOP congressman said there is not one republican in washingotn more worried about Kerry than Edwards.

3) He's drawing enourmous crowds.

and

4) In the little poll on MSNBC's site they've run since Iowa, Edwards is up on Kerry 45-41.

I think he may win 1 or 2 of tomorrow's primaries.

I haven't seen any Utah, Idaho, or Hawaii polls, so I have no idea how he will fare.  My guess is he has a chance in UT and ID, as they are very conservative states...but, I really don't know.

If this primary season had been stretched out a bit more ... or if Dean had dropped after New Hampshire ... I think Edwards would be the candidate.  However neither happened.

These are all plusses for Edwards, but it will come down to whether he can make a big splash in the debates, and get some big newspaper endorsements. (Has NY Times endorsed?)

A Dean endoresement would also be nice, but a long shot.

Kerry will win big in all three states tomorrow, something like 60 to 30.  See Nevada, but give all of Dean's voters to Edwards.

Yeah the last Utah poll I saw was something like 49 to 23, I can't remember if somebody posted it on this site or not.

He may have a chance in Utah or Idaho, but I'd doubt it in Hawaii.
None of the three states really matter that much though--very few delegates

Well they matter in terms of the headlines they would generate only if Edwards won. But since people aren't campaigning in these states Kerry will win them.

He's got a chance here, most Idaho Dems I have talked to support Edwards.

Btw, Mr Fresh, which state do you consider more conservative, Idaho or Utah? I used to think Utah but now I'm not so sure.

I know the question is directed at Mr. Fresh, but I think Utah is more conservative.

Miamiu and I have discussed this very topic in another thread, let me pull her up for you:

I'm not closely acquainted with either state, but I would vote for Idaho.  At least PART of Utah sometimes votes for Dems (Jim Matheson and Rocky Anderson in SLC).

Has a single Democrat won a statewide or congressional election in Idaho in the last ten years?  (Maybe, but I can't remember one).

On the other hand, Gore lost Utah by 41%, but came withing 39% of pulling off a win in Idaho. :-P

I can't remember who put up a voting record on the other thread, but it was a good one to see how conservative each state votes.

And Idaho has 1 Democratic state wide officer.  Marilynn Howard, our Superintendant.

I was watching Edwards on C-SPAN last night and realized something funny: even though his views on the issues grate against my ears when I hear him speak, I think he would be the best president out of everyone running.

Even Bush?

Mr Fresh- yes it seems from the voting record, Congressional races, and the fact that Gore % in Utah was deflated by Nader's nearly 5% showing, Idaho is more conservative.

I think you could take Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming and be hard pressed to find any one of these states much more conservative than the other two.  You could throw a blanket over all three.

And that's the way we like it.  Grin

I'm sure Immy might contest that, but the day Idaho goes for a Democratic President will be the day when pigs learn to play Texas Hold 'Em.

lol, I'm sure Immy would.  As I would contest living in Massachusetts, and I'm sure the majority there, likes it that way.

Beet -

Yes actually, mainly because of Bush's apparent apathy when it comes to the ridiculously large spending measures that he should be vetoing.  If he want's to play to his base in an election year, he should be exercising fiscal discipline.
