"Will Texas secede? " - MSNBC News

October 12th 2009 Sad Texas stated it may secede from the union after the CIA broke up a Anti-Government  rally in Dallas, claiming Texas has no right to protest any longer as it's "disturbing loyal Americans"

OCTOBER 13TH 2009 : BREAKING NEWS :  TEXAS HAS LEFT THE UNION!

America is shocked as Texas has announced it will eave the union, after Obama called Texans "Silly Rednecks who just want to protest anything that's not far-right"

Are they going to take their share of the national debt? If so, good luck. I am looking forward to 10,000,000 Texas Dollar notes. If they don't, the US would damn well embargo them.

Hey, I like the idea

However Texas should be split and one part, where silly redneck lives, would secede and other park, where sane Texans lives, just like our buddy Historico, would stay

Also all insane Oklahomians should move to insane part of Texas, allowing sane Oklahomians, like our other Buddy Mechman, to stay

Define "insane Oklahomans".
Are you merely talking about the far right extremist "let's kill abortionists and arrest gay people" Republicans, or does this also include the Republicrats, err I mean Zell Miller wannabe Democrats (hey guys, Robert Kerr and Fred Harris are rolling in their graves) who make Frank Keating look liberal? Because I can imagine both supporting a Texas secession.

If Texas were to secede, the situation would have to be extremely dire, at least in the opinion of most (polls after the initial scare found that a sizable minority, over 30%, favored secession). However, the state itself would be fragile, with conflicts likely occurring between it and Mexico, due to its large Mexican population along the border. If anything, the Conservative part of the state splits off from the country. While Texas is renamed as the state of Houston.

Fred Harris is not dead!

And, regarding the question, I meant mostly "let's kill abortionists and arrest gay people" Republicans, esspecially after I checked list of OK curreny congressional delegation.

OK, So here are the parties :

The Longhorn Party : Socially far right, Fiscally center-right , Pro-Intervention (S : +8.00, E : +5.00)

The Texan-Liberation Party : Socially liberal, Fiscally far right (S : -7.00, E : +9.00)

The Texas Democrats Party : socially moderate, fiscally center-right

Contrary to popular belief...Texas can not seceed from the Union, Perry might be dumb as nails but he isn't crazy. The only thing the Texas could do is divide it'self into 5 soverign states, which would probably give the Republican's a few more seats to stand up to the Democratic majority. If we indeed did try to seceed from the Union, since I attend University in Denton, it's like a two hour drive then im in Oklahoma lol.

Actually wouldn't that also help the Democrats since the big cities in Texas trend toward Democrats? Especially if one state has Houston and Corpus Christi, another state has Austin and San Antonio, one state has Dallas/Ft. Worth, and one state has El Paso and Laredo (at least I think it is). That would leave only the Panhandle and the really conservative part of West Texas as the only places of Republican dominance.

But it is your state, so correct me if I'm wrong.

America is shocked as Texas has announced it will eave the union, after Obama called Texans "Silly Rednecks who just want to protest anything that's not far-right"

I always knew Obama is a man with sharp judgement
