Bubba is as fat in the Modern Age as were going to get.  Huckabee only lost weight so he could run for President, I think.

Bumping this up to avoid making a new thread...

I think America's next President could very well be obese. It looks like the GOP will not be able to win in 2012, but in 2016, we'll have a pretty good shot of picking up the White House. One of the leading candidates in 2016 will likely be Chris Christie, assuming he decides to run.

Governor Christie is not obese.  He is just big.

He fits a definition of obesity very well. I mean, look at his face.

Beat me to it, only I was going to post a picture. Oh well, here it is anyway. This photo also incidentally proves that we've elected a president with horrible teeth:

Did we have any other obese presidents besides Taft and Clinton?

Clinton was overweight, but he wasn't obese by any reasonable standard. Taft was the only president to meet the medical definition of obesity.

Dude is way beyond the threshold for obese. I'm just over the line and I'm nowhere near as fat as that larda$$.

Sorry for the necro, but I asked someone about this and he said John Adams, Buchanan, Arthur, Cleveland, Harrison, and Mckinley were all obese in addition to Taft and Clinton.

Clinton was, at one point, the 3rd heaviest president ever. (Behind Taft and Cleveland)

The early GOP party tended to have the mustaches and a little overweight.  We have had bigger GOP presidents back then and bigger GOP Supreme Court justices. But that was the early GOP party which was the more progressive party back during the early stages, I think it is less so now. I could see it happening now, but less so. Forget Doug Christie, he would be old news by then.

Yup! Taft was mentioned at the front page, I dunno how you missed him! He's HUGE!

But electing someone fatter than Taft? Uh...I doubt that'd happen if ONLY because of the immense likelihood said president would die due to the levels of stress the office holds.

In addition to Taft, Cleveland was also obese. He wasn't as fat as Taft, but 5'11" and 250 pounds is definitely obese.

We probably will. If an obese person was the best candidate, voters would look past it, especially if the VP is popular. We elected a man named Barack Hussein Obama. Twice. Rule out nothing.

Here's a map of the top 15 most obese states (over 27.7% of the population)

Yikes! Except for Michigan, those states usually vote Democratic in Presidential elections (and 2020 is unlikely to change that assessment).

Donald Trump is obese.

Bill Clinton is 6'2" and was 246 pounds at one point.  That is obese.
